Kaylee H. Koozer, CHN, is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist (Certified Nutrition Consultant) and Holistic Lifestyle Specialist, Certified in Holistic Nutrition. She spent most of her adolescence being raised in Northern Indiana, studied Holistic Nutrition at the Energetic Health Institute in Portland, OR and graduated in 2018. Following graduation, she moved to Indianapolis, IN and later to Cincinnati.  Since graduated have been offering Nutrition Consulting through her own new startup, Vivus Holistic Health, in January of 2019.

She specializes in helping women who are experiencing hormonal imbalances (including symptoms such as acne, hormonal weight gain and/or weight loss resistance, adrenal fatigue, and infertility) to restore their health and feel confident again. She is passionate about healing holistically –– mind, body, and soul –– and incorporating techniques and natural approaches that have been used in the realm of natural health for centuries.

“My first encounter with the ideology that food could be used as medicine was when I was about 11 years old. My mom, after the development of cancer, began eating a raw vegan diet and juicing intensively for months, until new scans revealed that she was unquestionably cancer-free. Her example had planted a seed in my mind, that food was powerful.”

Her own journey to recovery: “Within a couple of years, I began puberty and with it, I also encountered the onset of body dysmorphia and a poor relationship with my self-image. I began exercising and changing my eating habits, but a hurricane of changes in my life spiraled into disordered behaviors. Within months, I found myself emaciated, mentally tortured by food, the compulsion to exercise, and the number on the scale. I continued in his unhealthy pattern for years before having a light-bulb moment –– a moment where I realized I was dying, and the only thing in the way of recovery was myself. “

“From December to January of that year, I decided a new year would be my fresh start and began the process of physically recovering (gaining weight to restore health) and implementing meditation and positive affirmations to improve my mental state –– in the process, I had to eat copious amounts of food to gain even the smallest amounts of weight and became hyperaware of how food made me feel. I was often eating refined foods to increase my caloric intake, and feeling bloated, lethargic, and still somewhat fatigued. I shifted my diet to be comprised of whole foods; fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds –– and felt the difference quickly. It was then that I encountered firsthand the true power of food. The bloating dissipated, my moods shifted, my body became more flexible and energized. It had been my missing puzzle piece. It was then that I decided I wanted to help others understand Nutrition, and how to use food as part of a holistic approach to wellness.”

At home, Kaylee enjoys cooking nutrient-dense vegan meals and observes a great appreciation for cultural culinary techniques, constantly adapting recipes into healthier versions that boast equal flavor to their traditional counterparts, and she proudly brews her own kombucha and loves fermenting her own kimchi and sauerkraut. She also enjoys reading and creative writing.

She lives with her partner, Alan, and their 1-year-old golden retriever, Murphy. To stay active, she enjoys hiking and weightlifting with her partner and she also enjoys doing solo yoga and Pilates several days a week, which have been major hobbies for the past seven years.
